Where to give support for Windows 7?
I just experienced the first BSOD with Windows 7, and I must say it was an odd one at that. I had Windows explorer, Firefox, Ventrillo, Winamp, and had just opened Windows Media Center (all software is the latest, all updates for windows installed). When, all the sudden, the desktop overlay's went crazy. Random switching windows, screen flipping to random colors, noise going in and out, etc. I don't know how you can attach a .dmp file here, but, I was wondering... Where can I actually give support for the beta/RC of Windows 7, since the support link has disappeared. I would love to know what caused this, looks to be a driver or .sys file from what the BSOD said. HiThere is no 'official support' for the public beta, however, Microsoft has created these forums for a place where beta testers can congregate, get help and report problems. We alsohave someProduct Support Services folks helping out here occassionally.Since we do not have file upload capabilities on these forums, many of our members are using online file storage websites where they can upload files and make them publicly available for other members to download.Microsoft has such a service that is freely available here:Microsoft Windows Live SkyDriveYou can create an account, upload the Dump File and make it publically availabe, and then come back here to ask for helpby someone who is knowledgeable in debugging the files.Be sure toinclude the URL to that public file in your post.I would recommend starting another thread with a title such as "Need Help Debugging a BSOD Dump File?" or something similar to get attention.Hope this helps. Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVPForum Moderator
