Where to Install 'StandAlone' Programmes?
I have, in addition to the 'Program Files' folder, a 'Programs' folder (C:\Programs), with a single programme in it.
Recently, I've been thinking of rounding up all the 'standalone' programmes populating various regions of the C:\ drive, and giving them their own folder, leaving shortcuts in their prior, once significant, locations.
Where to put them, though?
In a "StandAlones" folder in the "Program Files" folder?
And then I thought about that "C:\Programs" folder, occupied and created by its solitary software.
I realise that there are possible security issues involved. So what considerations would make for an informed choice? What other do Vista users do? Thanks in advance.

To me the word ‘Standalone’ indicates that the program doesn’t need to be installed, i.e. it doesn‘t use any Windows services, registry and the like. If this is also your interpretation of the word, why not put them all in one folder
named Standalone Programs. You could then put another folder on, say, the Desktop containing shortcuts to each of the Standalone Programs.

Thank you for your reply, BurrWalnut.
I can only reiterate the question: " Where to install this 'StandAlone programmes' folder?"
