We have deepfreeze and it freezes drive C: but leaves D: thawed. We put the user folders on D: but the user still can not change password.

Hello, AFAIK, user accounts are stored in SAM database. Even if you put your users folders in D drive, you will still unable to change passwords as you are using DeepFreeze. Actually, when we set a password to account, the computer converts the password to a number, usually via a standard code called ASCII( American Standard Code for Information Interchange). Each charactor of your password corresponds to a number; Windows 7 password are stored in SAM file which located c:\Windows\system32\config\SAM. You can't change the password there, only by: 1. Click “ Start “, then choose” Control Panel” 2. In the Control Panel, Click “ User Accounts and Family Safety 3. Under the User Accounts, you can find” Change your Windows password”, click it. 4. This will take you to your User Account windows if you already have a password, click “ Change your password”. By the way, if you have forgotten windows 7 password, and you want to change the password in your user folders on D:, it won't help. Just use a program to reset it.
