Where is hibernation?
I don't have a hibernation option on my notebook. I do have sleep, log off..., but I don't have hibernation. I didn't delete the hibernation file upon disk cleanup, I did run the "powercfg -h on command". I use may notebook with the batteris taken out, colud this be the problem? My config: W7, AMD TK-44 (athlon x2 64), ATI X1250, 150 GB hard drive, I have the latest updates.

You do have enough free disk space? Are you sure you didn't modify C:\ security permissions so that system would be unable to create a file there? Also, go to Control panel, Hardware and Sound, Power options, Edit plan settings, Change advanced power settingsCheck your settings under the sleep tree (Allow hybrid sleep, Hibernate after)Other than that, you could still try reinstalling the system. Mine already crashed once (deteriorated so far that I was forced to reinstall)I have no further ideas, hope any of this helps. My hibernation was enabled right away.

Hey,Apparently if your notebook do not have adequate free space during installation, hibernation will be set to Off. Having said that, using the "powercfg -h on" will not add the Hibernate option to the list of power management options. This issue is already there ever since Vista.I've already submitted a bug report on this issue.IN the meantime, to use Hibernate, I'll just do a "shutdown -h". I did have enough space at installation (50G partition). At the advanced power settings I do have hibernation settings along with hybrid sleep, sleep and I do have a hibernation file because it appears at disk cleanip (2G-256M videocard).I do have hibernation option at the "change what the power button do" setting, but I didn't find the "change what the start menu power button do" option. In Vista there is an option like this.I tried with batteries installed too, but still at the shutdown options I don't have hibernation.

Ok, I figured it out. If you have the "Allow hybrid sleep" option turned on then there is no hibernate at shutdown. As I disabled it the hibernate reappeared.
