Where is 'All Programs'?
For both the specific user and 'public' (all users), where are these folders and shortcuts stored?I have the need to add a custom folder and link to a program which doesn't install itself. Thanks :)

For Specific user C:\Users\<your user name>\appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows\start menu\programsFor all users C:\Programdata\Microsoft\Windows\Start menu\programsBoth Appdata and Programdata are hidden files. You must select show hidden files in folder options. You can find where these are by right clicking the item in the program lis and select properties.Paul

For crying out loud, I forgot I had show hidden off, nice.Side question: Is there any way to have 'show hidden' turned on for everything 'except' the desktop?

Picsoe said: Hi,When you go via the Start button to All Programs
you can right click on an icon
choose for properties
you will find the path in "location" when you right clicked a folder
you will find the path in "target" when you right clicked a program icon
I hope this is what you are looking for ?Thanks, but Lead3 hit on what I was looking for. Like a genius, I had 'show hidden' off. The main reason I had it off is it was littering my desktop with hidden things I didn't want to see. Would be nice if I could not show hidden things on the desktop, but show them everywhere else :)

Typically the only time things show up on the desktop whenshow hidden is enabledis if "Hide protected operating system files" is unchecked.
