Where did my old mail go? How can I uninstall Windows Live Mail?
Appearently Windows botched the job installing Windows Live Mail. I upgraded from Vista. First it says it can't connect to a hotmail account. Not surprising since I don't have one. It also says tryagain later. Well with some further investgating I find it didn't install the default mail client properly. So when I go to uninstall it, It not on the list. I can't d/l it again because the program that d/l says I alrady have it. My product key wasin the old emails. I am getting backup disc. So what are my options?

Personally I would use Thunderbird and not Live Mail. I had so many problems getting Live Mail to pick up my gmail account, whereas it was easy for thunderbird to pick it up. Go to mozillamessaging.com to get thunderbird. To uninstall the live mail, you have to pick 'windows live essentials' in the programs and features list, then when the uninstaller pops up, select the live apps to uninstall and whala.Hello! Tjhe upgrade can process knockout registry entriescausing programs not to function. Programs installed by the windows installersometimes can not be removed from the program and feature list becaude the source can not be found after an upgrade.Luckily the .msi installers for windows live ar located in a cache -I believe it is here C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Windows Live but I can't be 100% certain because i repackaged my WLmail as a single install seperate from the rest of the included bloat for quick install and removal. If you happen to find those .msi's just right click on them and select uninstall. That should clear things up somwhat. Search for mail.msi in program files and that should find the rest of them.
