Please could someone tell me How To Get Windows 7 Device Stage Up so i can try it out and send feed back on it to thanks.

The device stage can be found by clicking the Start Orb, and then clicking on "Devices and Printers" on the right side. You'll see the devices you have connected there. When you click on the device you'll see more specific things you can do with device.Afairly good overview of Device Stage can be found here:http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2008/10/arspdc-the-new-device-stage-in-windows-7.arsKeep in mind that at this point, there are a very limited number of devices that will have the full Device Stage treatment with the picture of the device, etc... There will be more added as developers put some effort into it. Your phones are not likely supported at this point. A list of devices that already DO support Device Stage can be found here:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/devices.aspx

thanks thought it was that look diff to what i have seen in mags. looks like Samsung is not got Drivers as of yet is there any plains for samsung to join as if it doesnt happen, windows 7 will have same probs as Vista at launch.

Yeah... Keep in mind that it'd be in their own interest for Samsung or other developers to create drivers and more importantly, Device Stage interfaces for their hardware. Windows 7 (thus far) looks like it's going to bequite a hit when it gets released. Fortunately, many devices already function fairly well out of the box using Vista drivers - so the situation won't be quite as bad as it was with Vista. Those devices that haven't got Vista drivers probably won't get Win 7 drivers either.

Thanks i do like windows 7 will miss it in august. Ihave had no problems with it if i had they sort them selfs out some how. Samsung drivers works on its own program but just looks Driver stage not support with then yet.

Why "miss" it in August? By then the Release Candidate should be ready and available for download... The odds are quite good they're going to make it available (as they did with Vista RC1). Might want to consider downloading it.I know what you mean about ugly interfaces - Maybe if you pester Samsung enough, they might get the ball rolling and get their developers working on a Device Stage for your phone.

That would be good if i can download windows 7 in August as it is better than vista. Can i be sent details when it is release for download so i can stop using the beta.I have vista home Prem but have taken it off for this windows bwta version witch ne and my partner like, apart from the prob i have said and, window live photo gallery when you put mosue pointer on a pic it is ment to show the pic bigger and show more details of the pic, but all i am getting is a quater off the pic not all.

I'd recommend downloading the RC before August... After Aug 1st, the beta won't let you do much of anything, let alone download or burn a disk.As far as being sent details goes... Just stay tuned to the various tech resources you heard announcing the Windows 7 Beta. I'm fairly certain they'll be announcing the RC test program in all it's glory all in due course.

Wait a sec... Why would you have to reinstall XP first? That makes no sense. You DO realize you can download and burn the ISO image to a blank DVD from Windows 7 and then install the RC from the disk... Right? That's of course, assuming you've got a DVD burner installed in your computer. If I recall correctly, Microsoft recommended a program calledIMGBURN to burn the Win 7 DVD. It's a free progam - and according to the authors it should work with Windows 7. For now, I'd just wait until the Release Candidate gets released before experimenting with 64 bit. Getting your ISOs from sources other than Microsoft's official channels can be bad news. You don't know where the ISOs have been and who's been playing around with them. The last thing you want is an ISO that comes with it's own viruses or other malware set to preload with the OS.For what it's worth, Vista 64 was (and still is) a LOT better than XP 64. XP 64 had a serious lack of drivers. Vista 64 is, at least, a lot closer to mainstream adoption. Windows 7 x64 should pretty much seal the deal.

Ill wait to full download of 64 window 7 no next os i will buy full but my vista is only upgrad version so cant just put it on it needs xp on 1st.

Actually... You CAN install the Windows 7 Beta (or RC) directly on a hard drive as if it was the FULL product. Or you can upgrade an existing Vista installation. If you upgrade from XP, the installation process will wipe everything out anyhow. The point is - you don't need to go through all those contortions. We'll have to wait and see, but rumor has it that the RC will allow for an upgrade from the Win 7 beta. That may or may not be what will actually happen, we'll have to wait and see.

i did put windows 7 as full product not as up grade so went straight on. but cant do that with my vista copy.

Ok... So when the RC comes out - download and install it. That should not expire immediately - in fact, it will likely not expire until after Windows 7 itself launches. The Vista RC 1 image didn't expire until May 31st, 2007 - about 5 months after Vista was released to the general public. I'll bet you'd rather NOT have to go back to XP or Vista - and I'm going to guess that the vast majority of testers who are happy with Win 7 don't want to go back either. Nor do I see Microsoft being willing to create any negative PR by having the RC expire and force people to go back to XP or Vista. Microsoft wants testers to be happy campers. Besides reporting bugs and such, we're actually the front lines of marketing - It's the old grass roots kind of thing. We tell our friends and clients about Win 7 and how good it is, they might be more at ease upgrading than all the TV ads, tours, and "dog and pony shows" combined. Cutting us off early would only serve to chap some rather sensetivehides and Microsoft does NOTneed that. Of course, that's just my 2 quid and I could be wrong.

i am very happy with the beta just think i should of gone for the 64 version. sorry but what is the differance from the bata and rc version. and when rc is avilabe is that the one i pay for, or get discout for being a beta tester.

The Release Candidate - is just as the name sounds - a candidate for final release. It's sort of like a play - you have the regular rehersals where you learn the parts, then there's the final dress rehersal and then opening night. The RC is like a final dress rehersal. Only longer. A Release canddiate is pretty much what the final version is supposed to look and be like. As with the beta version, we take it and pound the OS to within an inch of it's proverbial life to find any remaining bugs and report them so they can be fixed before it ships. Once those bugs are taken out and fixed, the code is then considered "Gold" and is Released To Manufacturing (RTM). The RC stage, as with the Beta is generally a free download for evaluation. Unless you have aTechnet Plus or MSDN subscription, once the final build is released, we (sadly) won't be getting any discounts or freebies. There are just too many people involved in the Beta/RC process and to give everyone a free copy. Itwould be quite expensive. As it is, the experience of using the OS for just about a year before everyone else can get ahold of it can be reward enough as we'll have insight and expertise into what makes it tick. Learn it well, develop mad skills, etc... and you can use that to your advantage. On the other hand, a Technet subscription is a pretty good deal. For $349 USD, you can get a subscription plan that gives you access to a LOT of the latest software from Microsoft. Free, non-expiring "evaluation" versions of Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Office 14 (when they're released) plus a bunch of others. If you figure in that Windows Vista Ultimate originally retailed for $399 USD, and a copy of Windows Server 2003 or 2008 with a 5 user license costs $899 USD, and the full version of Office is likewise about $359 USD or so, that Technet subscription sounds really quite reasonably priced - especially if the prices for Windows 7, Server 2008 R2 andOffice14 keep in line withwhat they were askingfor previous versions... You also get access to other resources - things like discounted support andsuch.Prices will vary depending on exchange rates and your location.

No worries... I'm just pointing out the availability of the program. It won't make that much sense for everyone. It makes a lot of sense for myself on the other hand. I fix a lot of computers for people among other things so it helps if I'm up to speed on a wide variety of technologies out there. BTW, I like to roll my own hardware as well. In fact, the only name brand box I've got is my laptop - and that's only because building your own laptop just isn't something you can do easily. Enjoy the RC when it comes out... Stay tuned!
