When typing a number, user displayname not being showed (address book)

Hi all

Im using Lync 2010 with all users with this number format:
tel:+34944567890;ext=XXXX
or
tel:+3494456XXXX;ext=XXXX

I've set up some normalization rules in the dial plan to normalize this way:
XXXX -> +3494456XXXX;ext=XXXX
94456XXXX -> +3494456XXXX;ext=XXXX
+3494456XXXX -> +3494456XXXX;ext=XXXX

Phone calls are working correctly but when dialing or searching a number it only shows the +3494456XXXX in the lync client (phone or computer).
After applying http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2735322/en-us it shows the extension: +3494456XXXX;ext=XXXX

Ok, but now im trying to make it show the user name solving it with the address book information.

In the active directory, an user with the "Telephone number" field value: 4141

In the Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt file:

(4141)
+34944564141;ext=4141

Forced address book rebuild on server and regeneration on my lync client.
When typing 4141 on my lync client still showing
+34944564141;ext=4141
but no trace of the DisplayName.

Am i doing something wrong?

Thanks all!

Hi,

can you post the normalisation rule that you configured in Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt? it seems that it's not normalising properly and RNL doesn't really working.

It's exactly like i've submitted.

##
## Normalize 10-digit phone number patterns from Active Directory into +E.164
##

(4141)
+34944564141;ext=4141

Any way to troubleshoot the generated address book?

Im trying to find a way to make address book queries through command line.

the normalisation rule that you have configured seems to be wrong. Please check below blog and fix the rule in the txt file and regenerate the addressbook

Working! Resolved number to displayname.
Thanks!

But there's still something i dont understand:

In the active directory, two users.
    User 1 -> "Telephone Number": 4141
    User 2 -> "Telephone Number": 7450

Normalization rules:

    ^(4141)$
    +34944567890;ext=4141

    ^(7450)$
    +34944567890;ext=7450

When searching the extensions, both names are resolved. Ok.

But, the contact card shows different number format!
    For User 1: 4141
    For User 2: +34944567890;ext=7450

Any idea about this different behaviour?!

It seems that you have the DID number component (before the ;ext= part) is the same for both the users. But it might net be a problem as Contact card can show duplicated entries. check the AD work number field what you have mentioned. if you haven't clean the address book,

delete the AB files from Lync Share and run Update-csuserdatabase, wait for 15 minutes, run Update-csaddressbook.

remove the SIP Profile from client PC and let it to download the new Addressbook and see if the problem remains same.

I think you need to have normalization rule to translate extension 7450 to the format +34944567890;ext=7450.

Any luck with what i've suggested above?

It only happens for the case of 7450.

I've added a general rule for AB normalization...

^(74\d{2})$
+34944567890;ext=$1

and all 74XX but 7450 works nice showing 74XX on the contact card.

To delete the AB files, should delete all the contents of the ...ShareLync\1-WebServices-1\ABFiles folder?

in that folder, you'll see bunch of files. take a copy of those file and delete them all.

I do have...

In the Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt file:

^(7450)$
+34944567890;ext=7450

In the dial plan:

^(74\d{2})$
+34944567890;ext=$1

No luck.

Thx anyway :)

I've detected a problem related to the "include in my contact card" check.

The ad phone is configured automatically there.

If the include in my contact card is unchecked for certain user, the contact card appears correctly.

If its checked, for some users it doesnt show the number correctly in the contact card. I've made tests and changes to the address book normalization rules. For these users, it uses old normalization rules that are no longer configured.

No idea why.
