When trying to run scan disk, after rebooting, cannot open volume for direct access.
I tried to run a full scan disk (one that requires rebooting) and when the machine reboots it acts as if it is going to run scan disk and then says "cannot open volume for direct access, Windows has finished checking disk". Then it proceeds to boot the system. I get this message on every start up now. I even tried to run scan disk on another system of mine (both running XP w/SP3), and now that machine is having the same problem. I certainly would appreciate it if someone that has run into this problem before could help me resolve the issue. Thank you!4 people need an answerI do too

Thanks to Stephen Boots for suggesting clean-up utility, which fixed problem. Seems there was schrapnel left over from previous av program.

I used Revo Uninstaller, but it did not correct this problem.
