When my computer crashes , my router goes down with it
Hello. when my computer crashes , no one else in the house can use the network untill my computer har begun to boot windows again. ive noted that the router reboots , or starts exactly when my windows is booted. man reason of the crashes is unstable overclock attempts. does anyone know why my router reacts to my computer crashing? this does not occur if i pull the network cable out of my computer , or shut the computer down in the right manner. im using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit , and this problem was also noted during my time on the windows 7 64 bit RC1 client. the router and hardware i use is : Dlink Dir 655 router intel i7 920 processor Asus P6T Deluxe v2 motherboard 3x2 gigabytes of corsair ram. and two raid setups

are you running the latest firmware for your hardware rev of the DIR-655? I am currently running 1.11 , even though 1.21 is the most recent , i have however tried that and a bunch of others , but the problem persists. i'm pretty sure its window 7 related , none of the other computers have windows 7 , and they have locked up an crashed a couple of times , but that wouldn't spook the router , Ive been running XP on this computer as well , that cured the problem.

not seeing that issue here with 1.21 on a DIR-655 and I have a wide variety of computers, both wired and wireless. what NIC is in the machine that causes the crashes? I'd be curious to see if unbinding IPv6 in this NICs properties changes things any. On Tue, 4 May 2010 20:06:22 +0000, Devildoll wrote: > > >i am using the motherboards integrated - Marvell88E8056 > > > >the routers revision is A3 btw. Barb Bowman www.digitalmediaphile.com

Barb Bowman www.digitalmediaphile.com i wouldn't mind trying that , i unbind ipv6 in the device manager i presume?

run ncpa.cpl from the start field. right click the NIC, then properties and you'll find the list of what's bound to it. allright , i couldnt click uninstall on ipv6 , but i could uncheck it , so i did. going to purposely make the computer unstable later today and see if this helps.

unchecking = unbinding, which is what I suggested. (not uninstalling..) okay still no luck , computer went down , and the network froze , its like the router is waiting for a response from my computer and wont do anything else untill it gets that response.
