That same thing has been happening for almost 4 hours, since the site went active to non-tech subscribers.

Here is the official announcement: "Due to very heavy traffic were seeing as a result of interest in the Windows 7 Beta, we are adding some additional infrastructure support to the Microsoft.com properties before we post the public beta. We want to ensure customers have the best possible experience when downloading the beta, and Ill be posting here again soon once the beta goes live. Stay tuned! We are excited that you are excited!"However, if you have the .ISO download already you can go ahead install and run Windows 7 without a key for 30 days.Joe

I know the site is having trouble...But I want to know IF i get as far as it trying to give me a product key I have been accepted and when all is well I will be alerted somehow...I can't use my activation email again as its now an invalid link... So rather than leaving the old link open on my PC for the hours or even days I can turn off in the hope I will get something to tell me where to go and download the key and the ISO.

Just remove the 2.5 million limit and everyone is happy.Giving something to the "first" X people while they have no chance to get through is is a certain recipe for frustration.

I got an email from Microsoft with a welcome to the windows 7 beta evaluation but I have not yet received a key. Where am I supposed to get my key from?

Some people who managed to fill out the form earlier today can get a key by logging into their Microsoft profile and then going to the exact link for the two keys. You should be met with an error message saying to check back tomorrow, you just need to keep refreshing and it should eventually give you a key. It's not a great solution but it should work until the servers officially open back up tomorrow.

where can i get the product key? have tryed many houers to get one
January 10th, 2009 12:47pm

Same here... I have the ISO, but I was not able to obtain the product key...IMHO, it's pretty stupid to let download the ISO (which is the "bad part", in terms of server load) but have problems with the keys... Come on, MS, it's not that difficult!

Yeah, agree with you..Yesterday at MS TechNet I tried to download W7 Beta. But Server was too busy. Today I found link to W7 at MS official site, but I don't know where I must get keys! I'm not registered at MSDN and cannot download Keys from MSDN.Waiting somebody from MS to answer or somebody who can post link to Keys here!Andrew
January 10th, 2009 1:54pm

BTW, I have downloaded the ISO from MS servers... no problems at all!So, they are experiencing "technical difficulties" on the product key distribution... :/

I think they simply don't want to give us license keys!I don't think that distribution of product keys is more difficult than distribution of ISO!But we must wait.....it's our mission! :)
January 10th, 2009 2:16pm

come on...it's MS's mission to keep us from waiting...not to keep us waiting

here you are right... MS's mission is give everybody a DVD-box with disc with Windows 7 Beta and license key :)and really I found where keys are, but I cannot get them. Somebody said that if you would refresh this page for 30 minutes, server would give you Key.1. Go to TechNet Main Page and click "Log In" (right top corner)2. Go tohttps://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/scripts/gcs.aspx?Product=tn-win7-64-ww&LCID=1033 to get 64-bit (x64) key or tohttps://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/scripts/gcs.aspx?Product=tn-win7-64-ww&LCID=1033 to get 32-bit (x86) key. You'll be redirected to page named "7 Beta 32-bit" or "7 Beta 64-bit". You'll see error there, but somebody say if you'd refresh this page for 30 minutes, you'll get this Key.Andrew, hoping that MS wouldn't delete / kill / remove me to Trash for that!..

What time did they start dolling out keys yesterday? I refreshed the page probably a hundred times before getting though theaccount verification process until i got the 'check back in the next business day' message. I refresehed after a while and it spat me out a key. Oddly it was before 3pm EST. Shortly after that the whole site went down for the night.

If you find a reputable site you trust there are active torrents all over that are seeding the beta at very high speeds.Disclaimer:IANAL and I have no idea if this violates any EULAs or license agreements. I haven't tried it, just know it's what's going on ;)

Well the keys are active again. But yes, you have to use IE, be signed into live, MSDN or Technet and have the downloader installed. Oh and that link on the first page works but you have to change the 64 to a 32 to get a 32 bit key. The actual software download (for those of us who were waiting) is takes about 40 minutes if you are above 10 mbit/sec you should be downloading it a 1 mbyte/sec. Still and Iso. Oh, and using IE 8 (also in beta) helps.Mike Schade

Keep trying,I had a few Error 500's. But persistence pays off.For me, the key came up before the download manager. Also, you need to be using a 32-bit web browser to get the download manager Active-X control to install and run properly. If you haven't done so, and you are using a 64-bit browser, switch.

When i was on the down load page,it gives you a link for installation which i went to, when i came back to the page, i had a new code so i tried it again ,same thing, if you are given a valid key, why should the server give you any of the other keys.
January 17th, 2009 6:44am

Its because the server doesn't link a key to your Windows Live ID. Since the cap of the beta has been lifted to two weeks, all the server does is select one of the 10 keys and show it on the page. Any of the keys will work on the ISO image, so the system doesn't have to link it to your account. So when you refresh the page or go back to the page, it will justdisplay another of the keys.

I'm sorry but this thread is dead as the OS shipped quite some time ago and the RC is already closed you won't get a key for the RC or any beta ver. of the operating system. This set of 10 Keys was for the Beta and RC ver for testing purposes only. And to download windows 7 or any ver. of their Operating Systems just Google for Microsoft Windows 7 and you will get many links to were you can go and purchase it though I recommend just buying the OS disk. Any and all Utilities that were on the Beta or RC ver. was in Testing to at the time. and is quite possibly not the same as the shipped ver. Hoped this helped you with your problem. Here is a link that might help http://www.bing.com/search?q=Window+7+Utilities&src=IE-SearchBox&FORM=IE8SRC

Yes I agree. I get questions and notifications on this thread and several others that should have been removed a long time ago. Though in being polite I answer most of them. I Did the Beta and RC testing to . And have a small Computer Business. Building Custom Machines for gaming and home use. So I research many OS's for my customers. I guess MS dosn't care to ck this system for their testing area anymore. It should at least be marked as a dead thread. Or locked YellowEagle
