When Shutting Down, Windows 7 Logs Out
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit refuses to shut down or restart. Anytime I click the button, it just logs me out. I click the button from the login page, and it just logs me back out and goes right back to the same page. I then have to physically hold the power button down to shut it down. This wouldn't be such a horrible pain if it weren't for yet ANOTHER problem I'm having regarding an external drive. That problem below. __________________________________________________________________________________________ I have a 2TB external drive. It's Western Digital. It contains two 1TB hard drives in it and is somehow raided so that it displays 1 drive. I've done EVERYTHING I can think of to put these drives in my computer and NOT external. They are simple SATA hard drives. I put them in, and windows still only sees one 2TB hard drive. I used partition magic to format the drives, as it sees both drives, but as soon as I reboot, it still shows one drive and according to partition magic (PM) it's "unallocated" for both drives. So I remove one drive and leave the other, it comes up fine. I format it and even put a file on it. Works fine. Then I reboot again, and swap the drives. Now windows won't show this drive, but PM will. So then I put both drives in the computer again, now it only shows one 1TB hard drive, and the other drive is "unallocated" to PM. I'm lost and have absolutely no idea how to fix this. I can't even get to the BIOS to see if there's a raid setting in there because my monitor flickers in the POST area but stabilizes when windows comes up.

I consider this issue can be hardware/drive related. Have you tried the external drive on another computer?Sean Zhu - MSFT
