When I wake up my computer CD/DVD drive is gone
Hello! I've been using Win7 for some time now and I haven't had any problems except this one. I use virtual CD/DVD drives quite a lot. When I was using Vista everything was working fine and now is a little different story. First I installed Daemon Tools Lite (the latest version which supports Win7). Everything works fine. I can mount and use all images. I can also use my physical CD/DVD drive. But over night when I put my computer to sleep (not shut down), my physical drive disappears. I've tried to open tray, put in a CD/DVD and it didn't register. I've searched for new hardware but it was not found. It even disappeared from device manager. When I restart my computer it comes back. At first I thought there was something wrong with Daemon, so I uninstalled Daemon and tried PowerISO. Same story. An the last thing I got to mention is, that both of my drives (physical and virual) cooexist quite happy until I mount an image to my vitrual drive and even after that.... But when I put it to sleep and then wake it up IT'S GONE!!! P.S.: This is happening in a desk computer, cause i found a similar thread only with notebooks. With regards Goran

Hi Goran Therewere several well documented bugs in the Windows 7 RC build associated with this issue. The bug appears when a hardware/software component fails to re-initialize properlywhen the system resumes from Sleep or Hibernation or will not enter the suspend state. These bugswas seenon specific systems that havecombinations of certain hardware/software installed. We are currently evaluating the RTM build to see if these particular problems have been resolved. See the following link for a list of other threads hereon this topic and some fixes/workarounds that have been posted. Sleep/Hibernate Issues - Microsoft TechNet Forums SearchUpdated: Some users have reported that this bug still exists, to some extent,in the RTM build. Work on this continues and hopefully will be resolved soon. Be sure to check Windows Update often and look for compatibility updates. This particular bug has been tough to squash because it was associated with several different Bios/hardware/driver combinations. It's recommended that you go through the system and check for updates to all of the drivers/firmware for all of the hardware components, starting with the BIOS. Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Hello all. I have exactly the same problem. I'm using a Gigabyte EP45-UD3R MB - bios is F11 - with an core 2 duo and 8GB ram. Worked fine with Vista and now loses the cd/dvd physical drives after sleep or hibernate. Reboot fixes until next sleep. This is with Windows 7 Professional. Does anyone have a solution yet? Thanks. Mike
