When I select a folder in Windows 7 Explorer it always opens a new window.  Driving me nuts!
I have a 32-bit Windows 7 Pro SP1 computer that is operating great except for one thing. When I am in windows explorer, when I click a folder to view its contents the stupid thing opens a new window to display the folder contents. I have already selected to "open each folder in the same window" but it doesn't help. Thanks already.

I have followed the information in the above links as best as I could. Registering the dll's with an elevated command prompt, etc. It is partially fixed. Now, when I click a folder it still opens up in another window but subsequent clicked folders open up in the same window. Does anyone have any more ideas? It is really a pain. thanks already.

You mean by going to Tools, Folder Options, Restore Defaults? yes, and change the option to "open each folder in the same window". Now try it again."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" Want to install RSAT on Windows 7 Sp1? Check my HowTo: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=150221

I restored defaults and re-ran the little batch file to register the dll's. It did not correct the issue. The first folder click still opens up in a seperate window but any subsequent folder clicks open up in the same window. It is crazy. I have also noticed that I now have two icons for "Computer" in the left column in Windows Explorer. They are identical. I don't know how long this has been happening or if it just started recently with all of this dll registering and changes.

I downloaded ShellExView and then figured out it was my profile. When I logged in using a new profile it worked correctly. So I just deleted my profile and created a new one. Other than having to set email, printers, etc back up it is working fine. Please tell me more about ShellExView. I ran the program and looked at the entries. What are these entries? What exactly are shell extensions? There were no entries in pink. thanks already.
