When I map a network drive the name of the PC is automatically entered in front of my user name. How can I stop this?
I go into map network drive and assign a drive letter. I am then prompted for my user id for the server I am connecting to. I enter the signon I need to get onto the server and windows automatically precedes this
with the name of my computer. How can I stop this from happening?

Try to create another Map Drive with Command Prompt (CMD)
Start --> cmd --> net use h: \\machinename\drive$ --> Enter

That is actually part of your username - the whole username is Domain\user.
I doubt you can get rid of it, for cosmetic reasons or otherwise.
