When I manually tell my notebook computer to hibernate it restarts just as soon as hibernation is complete.
I have an aging HP ze4100 notebook computer and am running XP Professional SP3. I recently tried to have my computer go into hibernation by manually selecting that option from the shut down options list. The computer gives every indication of actually entering hibernation but, as soon as it switches off, it immediately comes back on, restores the system and requests my password after which it runs normally. Why is my computer immediately restarting after this manually selected hibernation and how can I change that behavior? Thanks for the help!2 people need an answerI do too

I have an HP dc7700 running XP Professional SP3. And am having the exact same problem. Anytime I attempt to go into hibernation the computer goes thru all the steps and once it switches off in about 2 seconds it starts the process for restarting the computer. I would appreciate any help anyone can give us.
