When I load XP SP3 my wireless adapter (IPN2220) fails to connect to any router.
I am running an Acer Aspire 1800 Laptop with all components latest drivers and BIOS. Every time I try to install XP SP3, my wireless adapter stops connecting to available networks. It sees them and tries to handshake but always fails. When I uninstall SP3, everything works fine again. I have tried looking at encryption issues as the symptoms indicated that as the problem but the solutions don't work either. Any suggestions other than getting another computer?

Is there an available driver update for the wireless adaptor that you haven't installed yet? What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed and/or uninstalled SP3?Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Device Manager and Network Connections may be blank after you install Windows XP Service Pack 3http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953791Device Manager may not show any devices and Network Connections may not show any network connections after you install Windows XP Service Pack 3http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953979~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~WinXP SP3 - Read all prerequisites for a successful installationhttp://msmvps.com/blogs/harrywaldron/archive/2008/05/08/windows-xp-sp3-read-all-prerequisites-for-a-successful-installation.aspxFree unlimited installation and compatibility support for WinXP SP3 was available from 14 April 2008 thru May 2009.
