Using RC since this summer. Just got upgrade prodding email. Downloaded and ran upgrade advisor. It says I am running Win7 Ultimate. Although I bought the base version of Win7, I have not installed it.How do I determine/confirm exactly what version I am running?

Utimate was the version of the Release Candidate that was widely available so your result is expected. Click the start button and type 'msinfo32' (without the single quotes), then hit enter. From there you should see the system information screen with the complete OS Name and Version at the top. The RTM build (the one that costs money) is 7600. Be aware that if you are, indeed, running any version than the RTM, there is no upgrade so you'll need to do the proper backup (Windows Easy Transfer) if you want to keep your settings.

Right click my computer>properties and it should display which windows edition your're having

Hi,I agree with Bill and Daniel. It will be immediate for you to check your exact version of Windows 7. Right click Computer in Start Menu, click PropertiesInput “winver” or “msinfo32” in Search Box and press enter I suppose you want to determine if it is worthy for you to reinstall the basic version of Windows 7 replacing the pervious system. Please understand that Windows 7 RC cannot upgrade to RTM and force upgrade would cause potential system issues.
