well i was hoping microsoft would've had a beta for their onecare suite, since i've already paid for that for my other systems. wanting to see if anyone has used norton or mcafee. i know when i tried installing onecare yesterday it told me couldn't install due to compatibility issues, but i didn't exactly really try and troubleshoot and see if there was a workaround.

The only thing that has a tiny time with it is my W-7 Boxes hooked to my WHS the Connector shows for a few min that No Antivirus is Installed from the WHS icon, then it goes away and goes all green again after about 2min.Currently Testing Windows 7 Beta: 4 Systems built the same: 1Win7 ~ 2Vista Ultimate X64 ~ 1XP Pro/XP Pro X64 Dual Boot Box AMD X4 Phenom II 940, 8GB Corsair XMS2, EVGA 730a Motherboard, EVGA 9800 GX2 SCC, 2x500GB 32MEG Cache Seagate SATA Drives in Raid-0, 2x1TB WD SATA Data Drives, 6xHP w2207h HDMI LCD, 52" Mitsubishi LCD TV, Antec 900 Case, Antec TPQ 1000w PSU, 2 Sony BluRay Burner Drives.

Kapersky has a beta virus program designed for Windows 7... so far it's been really nice and hasn't slowed me down one bit. I just noticed last night that Panda also has a Win 7 antivirus, also in beta.(both free at the moment) Kapersky is what i choose to go with for the 64 bit win 7 b 7100 and it seems to do everything i had zonealarm doing in vista. it even caught an item that zonealarm and counterspy both missed on the vista partition. no slowdowns when doing a full scan which can happen with counterspy. the only thing i did not like is the fact that it did scan the vista partition. i normally exclude everyother partition and drive only allowing the security software to scan the current c drive/partition. even though i set all other drives / partitions not to be scanned it still scanned vista.

Avira free antivirus - no problems except for an annoying upgrade screen each day. Windows Firewall - I have downloaded an installed Vista Firewall Control from http://www.sphinx-soft.com/Vista/ which enables me to quickly set firewall parameters for outgoing activity. A bit of a pain since all activity asks for user input, but only once for each app (I seem to recall that Zone Alarm does, or did this too). Windows Defender for anti-spyware. I don't use a spam protector as the one in Outlook 2007 seems to work just fine, as does the one for my FIOS email. Total cost of my internet suite $0.00. Will Counterspy work with W7? No issues with using NOD32, A2 or Ad Aware. I am using the Windows firewall as Zone Alarm will not work with W7 as well as my router firewalls. Are their any free firewalls that will work with W7 or do you have to go down the paid route?

I was unable to use Norton IS09 due to incompatability. This is the first Norton product I have likes in five years, it is much better than the last 4-5 versions but it does not load in WIn 7. I called Symantec and found that their tec service is a bad as ever but they finally admitted that there is a problem. I then loaded the Free AVG which I am using for now on my Win 7 test rig. I am also using the Windows firewall and Windows defender.I like Win 7 so much that I want to use it as my main OS on my workstation but I will first need a more perminant security solution.

well, i'm running McAfee Security Center and its running great. I only have one issue though. i cannot use the scanner application with Windows 7 for some odd reason. for some reason McAfee's firewall blocks my printer from being able to scan in images on the PC. If i want to scan in an image using my HP photosmart 3210, i have to do it dirrectly from the device. does anyone know if there is a fix because i get this issue from vista as well in the non-beta version of McAfee as well at times.

I'm using Avast's freebie antivirus, Malwarebytes antimalware, the 'onboard' Windows Defender, and I also installed an add on to the Windows firewall called "Vista Firewall Control" that I downloaded from Majorgeeks.com. It seems to be working fine and like many other firewalls you have to 'train' it. I tried the Comodo Internet Security suite but didn't like it. I bought the ZoneAlarm Security suite; got a good deal on it, but the Vista 64 bit will not work on Win7. Bummer!

Hey ggossett001 I have ESET Smart Security 4.0.424. No other security software either. In the "Advanced mode", under "Setup", my "Web Access Protection" indicates that it is "non-functional" This problem only started once upgraded to Windows 7 beta. I have tried all sorts of things to try to resolve this issue. I have turned off Windows firewall and then tried to turn the web access protection back on... but there was no use. Also in the "Advanced mode" > "Setup" > "Antivirus and Antispyware" > "Web Access Protection" > "Configure" > brings up a new window, but everything is inactive. So I set everything to "Default" (found at the bottom right hand corner in this new window), but again the problem persists. I have also tried to enable it through the "Action Center" on Windows 7 when it gives me the option to do so, but again all this to no avail... So... if you have any suggestions for me, I would most appreciate it. Thank you!
