What is this DrWatson Postmortem Debugger all about and how do I remove whatever error is causing my computer's memory to be drained
I have this DrWatson Postmortem application poping up when I try and right-click on any icon the computer either freezes up or reacts very slowly. Now the hard-drive seems to be drained. I've tried to system restore to no avail and thinking this was a virus issue went to Mcafee who referred me back to microsoft. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi, Have you performed a full malware scan?Have you checked free disk space?Does this occur in Safe Mode?

Not sure how to perform that? but I do have Norton and regularly update my virus definitions. I have similar issues happening when I am on safe mode as well. I have performed freeing disk space regularly as the memory seems to continue being drained: but according to Mcafee, the constancy of the debugger application is reason for the memory being used up. the Any suggestions.

Hi, You could use a program (if you can get it started) call SpaceSniffer this shows you where your drive space is being used up? A good malware scan is Trojan Remover (A Available at www.simplysup.com) Have you checked RAM usage or used a program i.e. a memtest to check RAM usage

So it's not as simple as just disabling Dr.Watson as suggested on various blogs or do I disable first?
June 17th, 2010 11:45pm

You can disable Dr.Watson, but the reason Dr.Watson is showing is because its a program debugger which helps you diagnose a program issues to you can fix them. You can disable Dr.Watson first to see if you are happy with that way. Visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/188296 to find out from Microsoft how to disable it.

After disabling Dr.Watson, I'm not sure if I could do this prior to the disabling or just after-- I could not get explorer to open or the path to IE does not exist...not sure what's going on with the computer but memory has now drained to 7mb...Now it says IE script error 54...

Hi, Have you checked task manager to see where your memory is being used up?To access task manager either right click the task manager and select 'Task Manager' or Press and hold CTRL-ALT-DEL.
