What is the truth about the upgrades?
Well, I am happy enough with Windows 7. Happy enough with it that I accepted the early purchase offer to RC users. (It's the same deal offered to all.) Any way I clicked on the link, then clicked on the link to the retailer, where I saw the following; Windows 7 Upgrade System Requirements To be eligible for this offer, you need to be running a genuine copy of the Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems. 1GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor. 1GB RAM (32-bit) or 2GB RAM (64-bit) DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver. I am running Windows 7 RC on my main rig, Windows XP Pro on the other. I bought the Windows 7 Pro update for $106. Then I had read online that one can not update from the RC 7 install, nor with Windows XP pro.If this is true, then I feel pretty much mislead.

You are licensed to upgrade when you're running a genuine copy of XP Pro, as said in the "System Requirements" you quoted. You cannot do an "in-place" upgrade from XP to Windows 7 (= keep all your installed programs intact), because the core architecture of both systems is too different, you must do a "clean install" (= replace XP by Windows 7 and reinstall your programs after that). So, it's recommendedto backup your settings and personal files before you do this type of upgrade.Mobile AMD64 3000+, VIA Apollo K8T800 chipset, 1 G RAM, ATIRadeonMobility 9700, 20x DVDRW, C:XPSP3 (55G),D:WIN7 (25G),F:DATA (250G)
