What is the best way to redirect the My Documents to network in Windows 7
I'm asking this as there seems to be some different opinnions on what to do. Some are saying add the Network drive as a Library and some say do it like XP Right Click on My Docments>Location> and change to something like \\DENFILE\DMOBLEY232$\My Documents.

If your computer is part of a domain, the way I like to do it is through group policy. Saves a lot of time. Specially in a LAN environment where you don't want to go PC by PC. We are in Domain, but we only redirect the "My Documents" for laptop users.

If you are on a domain just get a group policy and make your life easy. Why go through all the trouble when the GP can redirect folders, set permissions, etc? Miguel Miguel Fra / Falcon IT Services Computer & Network Support, Miami, FL Visit our Knowledgebase and Support Sharepoint Site

We only do this for users that have laptops, not desktops and currently we don't distingush in AD between a laptop or desktop, so using GPO wouldn't that apply it to every single user and that is not what we want.
