What is the PresentationFontCach.exe application that now seems to be hogging memory?

I restarted my computer after being gone for two weeks and an application called "PresentationFontCache.exe" is taking up over 25% of my memory.

What is this program and why did it mysteriously appear at startup and seems to be slowing down everything?

Thanks, Jeff

1. Go to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\ ,delete all Font*.dat and reboot it.
2. Run services.msc, disable the service Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0
