I am running windows xp on a 6 year old computer. My computer keeps freezing and when i restart, something called dmx Launcher and ccsvchst is running and seems to be the problem. Can anyone tell me what this means and what these two files/programs???? are?Although you apparently have some sort of Norton security product (see below), it won't hurt to download, update, and run the following two free antimalware applications:Malwarebytes AntiMalwareSUPERAntiSpywareDmx Launcher is part of the D ell M edia eX perience. It also may be installed with Roxio Cineplayer. There may be a shortcut to dmxlauncher in Start > All Programs > Startup, in which case you can delete the shortcut and the program won't start automatically when Windows starts. If it's not in the Startup menu, use msconfig (Start > Run > msconfig > OK), click the Startup tab and uncheck the dmxlauncher item. The next time you reboot, dmxlauncher won't start. You can stop being reminded that you used msconfig to make this change by checking the box when it pops up. Alternatively, Autoruns can be used to do the same thing.Ccsvhst.exe is part of many Norton security products. This may very will be your problem. I don't know the specific problem that causes ccsvhst to slow your computer down even more than Norton products normally do, but my suggestion would be to get rid of Norton products entirely (unless you have just paid to renew your subscription). Good free antivirus applications include Microsoft Security Essentials and Avast!. I suggest NOD32 Antivirus 4 (not the "suite") from eset.com, but it's not free.A visit to the Symantec site is in order. Either look for reasons behind the ccsvhst problem (if you decide to keep your Norton product) or get the appropriateNorton Removal Tool and follow directions to completely remove your Norton product.
