Do you have a Lenovo Thinkpad? A quick Google brings up several links showing the DVMExportservice.exe as running from C:\QSTART.SYS\config\DVMExportService.exe, which seems to be connected with the Lenovo Quick Start service.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

No I have an HP Netbook Mini 110 purchased just a couple of weeks ago. It comes with a built-in Cam & Skype software that I activiated, so I wonder if it's associated with that. But I can't seem to find ANY explanation for this 'DVMExportService.exe' process in Google or any other search engine.

Well, as I said if you Google "DVMExportService.exe" you get quite a few links showing it in that directory. Try and track down what directory it lives in by searching for it on your hard drive. You can also use the free Autoruns utility to see from where it's starting and that might give you some clues.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

I did a search on my system for files that contained DVM, no QSTART.SYS, but it led to SPLASH.SYS on C:\, seems it might have something to do with 'devicevm inc' and some sort ofutility called "Splashtop" that HP uses on the laptop that can be used instead of Windows desktop, & you're right, several other laptop brands are apparently using this utility so it's possible the the brand you mentioned, Lenovo, has the same general file reference.I'msurprised that I couldn't find specifics on the proccess file name during my initial search, as every other proccess in my Task list was easily findable on Google & Bing with detail as to exactly what they were for. I sent a message to SPLASH to ask them for more details on the process file. It will be interesting to see the result (if any).Anyway,I guess the mystery is more or less solved, thank you very much for your help.

You did a great detecting job! Thanks for posting what you found out. If your netbook is behaving correctly and is nice and spritely, I think I'd leave it run. Cheers.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

Anyone know if this is a legit file? Using Windows XP Home edition on HP Mini Netbook. I think this process relates to ASUS ExpressGate technology. Do you see the ASUS OS on start up of your computer?
