What happens to my PreLoaded Office 2007 if I do a clean installation for Windows 7 RC?
I am currently using the Windows 7 Evaluation Copy Build:7100. I want to install the RC for which I need to do a clean installation. I have Office 2007 (which was preloaded on this laptop). What will happen to my Office 2007? Please guide...

Mp,Bit confused by your question mate.7100 is the RC build, so if you have this now - what are you going to fresh install?Answer to question though is that you would lose everything as a fresh install would completely wipe that partition/drive, so any install of Office would be wiped.Ridesy

Ridsey -Not always true.. If he did an "in place upgrade" on top of his existing installation, it would reset Windows to it's default state - but his apps - including Office 2007 - would stay put. All depends on how he did it.

The RC is supposed to enter a mode where it shuts down after two hours of use after March 1, 2010, so I consider that to be the expiration date. (It's the date that is displayed if you run "winver".)I don't know whether the retail version of Win7 can be installed as anupgrade-in-place over the RC. If not, Office 2007 won't be preserved. You have a few months to find what to do about that. One possible option, which I can't really recommend: there will probably be a hack to modify the retail version to upgrade-in-place the RC. A blogger at Microsoft published a hack to permit an upgrade in place of the original public beta, build 7000, to the RC. The unmodified installer for the RC didn't permit that.I'm glad that the pre-installed software on my year-old laptop was stuff I was prepared to discard (MS Works, mainly). I don't have to worry about preserving it. (However, I have created backup DVDs for the original configuration, as permitted by HP. I also have an image of the restore partition on the HD.)
