What happens at the moment? How to increase Win7 Debug Level/Logs to find it out
Hi, i have a strange problem with my Windows 7 Laptop. Every day between 9 and 12 am there is something that slows down my Computer so dramatically that i can no longer work. In Task Manager i cant find a single process wich hangs or something. How can i find out what happens to my Computer at this time? (no Tasks scheduled) Which Logfiles should i look? What other debug options i have to figure it out? It would be great if someone could help me! thanks!

I'm surprised Zigfried hasn't suggested SysInternals Process Explorer or WPT Xperf yet. I would do some simpler checks first. Are you saying the system bogs down daily for the entire 3 hours from 9-12am ? Also, when you say you looked in Task Manager, did you go to the Performance tab and click the UAC Resource Monitor button? That utility show plenty and it's very convenient. Different from Task Manager, when you say "(no Tasks scheduled)", do you mean you also checked Task Scheduler (taskschd.msc) ? My first guess: Is there a lot of network activity at that time it bogs down? Did you try disconnecting to see if that alleviates it? Possibly P2P/torrent software is "seeding" in that time period without either a schedule or your knowledge.

Hi, Before going any further, I would like to verify did your PC in a domain or workgroup? I suggest to perform a whole disk scan to check if any virus or spyware in your PC Hope that helps. I finally got it figured out even. It was a hardware problem that only happened if my laptop was in my docking station und closed. If i begun to work at 7am than it was always about 9 till 12 a clock when my laptop was so much overheating that the processor slowed down to 266Mhz. (fsb x multiplier 1) Replacing my cooling system was the solution :) it was hard to figure it out because there was no event log or other notification about it. I found a hint at a Dell Forum, where many people had the problem in my laptop model. Installed cpu-z and could verify it as my problem. Thanks for your help! Regards, Bastian
