What happened to the easy network repair options that Vista had?
When troubleshooting wirednetwork connection problems in Vista, it gave onscreen options like "Reset Network Adapter", and "Automatically Renew IP Adress", etc.; I don't see those options in theWindows 7 troubleshooter- did they not get put in this version? I really liked having easy desktop control over those options. What happened to them? Thanks.

I think windows 7 tries to be more intuitive about network issues, so these options have been changed. The connection status page still has a diagnose button, but it will not give you the options vista has if it does not detect a problem. For instance, if I try to diagnose a problem even though I am not having any problems, it only gives me repair options like system restore and online help. If I set a static ip and no dns or gateway is specified, thus destroying my internet connection, it will tell me when I click diagnose that dhcp is not enabled and that I can repair as an administrator. In short, if you want to reset your network adapter, just disable and reenable the device manually. Hope that answers your question.

Thanks for the answer, though I was hoping I had just missed something. I've had occasionalissues in the past with losing my connection due to expiration of IP address, or being physically disconnected from the router/modem for awhile, and in Vista It was usually fixed byselecting one or both of the aforementioned options;Ijust liked not having to go thru the extra steps involved in manually resetting the adapter or renewing the IP address. It was nice to just pull up the network screen andbe able to do it from there.Thanks.
