What causes the user account log on curser to be missing in Windows XP? I have two desk tops that both have this same issue. If you reboot them the curser returns?

Hi DaddyJeff,1. Did you make any changes prior to the issue?2. Are you referring to the cursor in the user password box on the Windows login screen?3. When the cursor goes missing, does the mouse pointer work on the screen? It is difficult to say what is causing this issue. If the mouse pointer hangs or stops working, then we recommend you to reinstall the mouse. To do this, try these steps:a. Login to Windows.b. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc and click ok.c. From the list of items, expand Mice and other pointing devices.d. Right click the sub item and click Uninstall.e. Unplug the mouse and plug it back.f. On Device Manager, select any of the items in the list, click Action menu, click scan for hardware changes.g. Check if mouse is detected, if yes, then install it.See USB mouse that is connected to a USB 2.0 hub is not detected by Windows XPNote: If the issue still persists, restore the computer to an earlier time.See How to restore Windows XP to a previous stateVisit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
