What can I do to modify an XP registry as Administrator, but not permitted
Computer is XP SP3. I am in the Administrative Group. The only user. In the Control Panel listed as Administrative Rights. In Computer Management Users and Groups listed as Administrative Group. BUT I cannot edit/modify in any way the Registry. Says Not allowed. Error in change of data. Cannot delete a test subkey.Basically I am locked out of making any changes to the Registry. WHY?? And What can I do to correct this??Thanks.1 person needs an answerI do too

Three things you might want to try. First, see if starting in Safe Mode allows you access. (if a key is in use, it may not let you delete it).Second, If this is a recent development, try doing a System Restore to a point in time before this was a problem. In Regedit, right-click on key -> Permissions. Even administrators can be denied access to key (but you do have permission to change the permissions).HTH, JW
