What build number are we at?
With the activation of the windows updates are we still at build 7100 or has there been a change to a later build with the updates?

Greg - Build numbers don't change with updates from WU or MU. The only way to get a new build number would be by way of Service Pak or in the case of Microsoft's Beta program - by downloading and installing a new build.

I was hoping that I missed an email and that there might be a new kernel or build out that might fix my slowness issues so I could try again. Anyone want to buy me a couple Mmobi SSD's so I can get fast disk IO and maybe give this another go? The 32GB drives would be fine.

This forum only supports officially sanctioned builds downloaded from the Microsoft Windows 7 web site. The last build Microsoft will offer is RC1 (build 7100).Attempting to download builds from third-pary sources is very risky and not supported. Please see: Windows 7 Unofficial BuildsCarey Frisch

Greg - Yup. The current public build is still 7100. It's just like Generalisimo Francisco Franco - he's still dead. (from Weekend Update just about 30 odd years ago on SNL)
