What anti-virus software is compatible with Windows 7 beta in a dual-boot?
I partitioned my HD to dual boot Vista and 7. I tried to find AV software for 7, but I got an error message and couldn't get anything. So I unistalled 7 and deleted the partition. I would like to try again. How do I get AV software? I'm not going to run 7 without any, and I don't want to do a clean install and get rid of Vista. I want to be able to do a dual-boot. I have Norton 2009 for Vista. I contacted Symantec, and they said Norton 2009 is not compatible with Win 7.

On this page here you will see the list of fully compatible solutions. There are many more that work as well. Check throughout the forums here many are listed. But for Norton only the 360 Beta 2 will work at this time.~Alex T.~ ~Windows Desktop Experience MVP~

If I'm doing a dual-boot, would I be able to keep Norton 2009 as the AV for Vista and run another AV on 7 on the partition I create to put 7 on?

Yes you most certainly will. The OS's will not interact with each other in such a fashion that having Norton 2009 on Vista will affect Windows 7.~Alex T.~ ~Windows Desktop Experience MVP~

I use Avast Free AV, and have a Marvell Yukon adapter. No BSOD so far.I also use Comodo Firewall, though I had to run the installer in compatibility mode, set to Vista.

I believe what they are all trying to say is that Windows 7 does not see the other partition. Its like installing Vista and Windows 7 on two different computers. Vista sees the Windows 7 partition though and while scanning Vista with a virus scan scans all partitions on the computer. It doesn't cause any problems though. I have AVG on Windows 7 and Avira on Vista. Oh I too dual boot.

I have tried the release version of NOD32 and the "Windows 7 compatible beta" of Kaspersky and both caused almost constant BSODs.The NOD32 blue screens were in "tdx.sys" and Kaspersky in "kl1.sys"As far as I can tell, both are related to the fact that I have a number of "shares" mapped to drive letters.I also tried AVG and it also gave BSODs in "tdx.sys", but I did not reinstall Win7 between uninstalling NOD32 and installing AVG so I can't be 100% sure there was nothing left behind from NOD32. I did a fresh install before trying Kaspersky. So, for now I am running Anti-Virus free - but with all fingers and toes crossed!
