What's the supported method? (Formatting with BitLocker)
Here's a synopses of what has just happened to me. I have been using Win7 for quite some time with no issues at all. During this time I've used BitLocker, again with no issues at all. Today I had issues with Apple iTunes and when I uninstalled it things went weird. I suddenly couldn't run anything - I would get errors saying the system couldn't find the specified exe file, even when double clicking the exe via Windows Explorer. I figured since it has been probably 2 years since my last format, and I was thinking about it before this happened, I'd just format and reinstall. I could -not- disable encryption because of the error already mentioned. I toss in my Win7 CD and get to the partition selection and I'm being told, after deleting and recreating the partition, that I can't install to that drive because it's protected by BitLocker and that I should suspend it before re-trying. So here's the question: I can't suspend BitLocker, as noted above. I tried suspending form the recovery console but the partition where C:\Windows\System32 isn't accessible. I can't format the drive so I can install Windows. I have no way to get to the BitLocker Recovery Tools. What should I do? My (working) solution: After deleting the partition, create 2 new partitions. The first being 1mb (which is "protected by bitlocker") and the second expanding the drive (which isn't protected, apparently). After re-installing I will probably remove the 1mb partition and re-size the 2nd partition.
