Weird behavior when performing right click - to select a shared file.
Weird behavior when performing right click to select a shared file. Steps to repro: 1. Access shared resource file, let say, type in the path from Run command [ex: \\SharedComputer\SharedFolder\SharedFile.txt] 2. Directly, right click on the file [SharedFile.txt] 3. If the network is slow, we see the Swirling icon, which indicates that it still is not able to right click on the file. 4. Suddenly, Windows explorer refreshes and the right click option is cancelled. 5. I will have to select the file once again and do a right click 6. Ahh, now the right click works fine. However, this first right click seems to cancel out every time, for any kind of shared file. Thanks, Dom

Hi,This behavior is mainly due to a slow network. To open a file across a slow network, client computers reads the file from the server and stores it in a cache on the computer's hard disk firstly, then read the file from the local hard disk. Only after the file is completely cached, you can perform action on shared files. Regarding your issue, the swirling icon indicates that the shared files is being cached currently. Thus it requests a second click after refreshing. However, a new change called Transparent caching in Windows 7 helps us to overcome this kind of issue in a slow network.I would like to recommendyou toverifyTransparent caching is enabled in Group Policy Editor. To do this, please take the following steps:1) Press Win + R to open a run box.2) Type: GPEdit.msc and hint Enter.3) Navigate the following item:Computer Configuration|Administrative Templates|Network|Offline Files4) Then find "Enable Transparent caching" and double click to select Enabled.5) Click Ok.Best Regards.Dale Qiao
