Weird Sound Problem
Hello everyone, I am having a problem with Windows 7 and IE8. When I go to a website that I know will play sound it will not play any sound Like yahoo music section. I have updated my sound card drivers, I have installed and uninstalled and then reinstalled all media applications(adobe flash, java) and still no avail. I have even tried to do the file checking system on win 7 under the cmd prompt SFC /Scannow and there were no errors. I have tried to reset all internet options back to default and then restart the internet explorer and still nothing. What I do notice is that under my mixer when I try and run sound or even pull up the web it doesnt get listed in the mixer for having sound Weird Yes! lol. I have even tried to use Mozilla Firefox and still no sound. My system is a Foxconn MB A7DA-S running an AMD Phenom(tm) 9650 Quad-Core Processor, 8.00 GB of ram, ATI Radeon HD 3300 Graphics, Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet, and Realtek High Definition Audio (current version is 6.0.1.5672) which I downloaded from foxconn directly. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit Edition. Oh but when I am on World of Warcraft, Windows Media Player, or ITunes...I do have sound. If you have any ideas as to what is the problem please let me know! Thanks

As you have sound while running game, WMP and iTunes, this issue should be not a sound driver issue, it may be caused by the flash player add-on. To troubleshooting your issue, I recommend you perform the following suggestions.Suggestion 1: Test your 32-bit IE first. It has been included in the 64-bit Win7. You can find it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer folder. To run it, click start---all programs -- Internet Explorer (32-bit). If it works fine, you can set it as the default browser. Suggestion 2: Reset Internet Explorer 8 =============================Note: the following steps will remove all of installed add-ons and reset IE to default settings. You need to reinstall the add-ons after resetting.1. Click "Start", type "inetcpl.cpl" (without quotation marks) into “Search” bar and press "Enter" to open the “Internet Options” window.2. Switch to the "Advanced" tab.3. Click "Reset…" to reset Internet Explorer settings.4. Check "Delete personal settings" box and click "Reset" to confirm the operation.5. Click "Close" when the resetting process is complete.6. Click “Restore advanced settings” button and click “OK”.7. Close the Internet Explorer window and restart IE to check the issue.I hope this would help you. John

Do you get any error message while running the 32-bit IE8 to listen music? Do you have sound while surfing the youtobe website? First, I would like to tell you that the 64-bit doesn't support the Adobe flash player, it's better to run the 32-bit IE to listen music online. Since I don't know if you try the 32-bit IE, and what you have done. You'd better to test your issue in a new account. You can enable the build-in administrator account and test again, you just need to run the following command and press Enter in an elevate Command window: net user administrator /active:yesThen log off and log on the build-in administrator account, and install the latest Adobe Flash Player for your 32-bit IE8, then test again. If you can't enable the account, you can create a new administrator account as a test. Good luck! John

Hello John, Well I have tried to install adobe for the 32 bit IE as well and still nothing. The only solution i can think of now is formatting my computer and redoing everything but i really dont want to do that... I have tried what you said with the Administrator side as well. And even on my main profile i have the 32 bit IE set as my default so it doesnt use the 64 but version. If you have any other solutions please let me know!

Hi, Please log on the Build-in admin account first, then open the 32-bit IE8. try the following link to remove the Adobe flash player.http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.htmlAfter that, you can move to the yahoo music website to test, it will promote you to reinstall the Player again, please following the instruction to install it. Then test if you have sound after installing it.If the issue still persists, You can test in the Firefox too. Good luck! John

Hello John, Well I have solved the problem...I ended up reformatting my computer...so now I have sound. I have tried to do everything that you told me to do and it wasnt working at all. I used the http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html and it didnt help at all. Firefox was doing the same thing as IE8 and so was safari. I gave up and decided to format my computer...Luckily I have a 1TB HDD so I could backup everything on my 500GB partition and format HAHA. Well hopefully this issue never happens again but if it does I will know where to look for a possible solution! Thanks for your help and hope no-one else has this issue. Patrick!
