Webdav on Windows 7 x64
Is it true that Microsoft Windows 7 x64 will not connect properly to Apache-based webdav services? I have attempted two different connections: A connection through webdav using cPanel's webdisk does not allow me to connect A connection to an IIS 6.0 system does not allow me to connect For each of these scenarios I have downloaded and installed the server's certificates manually. When I try to make the connection Windows requests that I select a certificate, which I do, but after 2-3 times the following message appears: "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another." However, when I attempt to connect through IE, Firefox or 3rd party software such as AnyConnect, I am able to get through with out any problems. Could some one please verify that this is in fact a problem with Microsoft Windows 7 x64. It would be great to get a fix for this ASAP!

Thank you for the link, however, I have already attempted to configure webdav using all possibilities listed on the site. This is a grep from my webdisk service provider showing AuthDigest is installed and running: root@XXXX [~]# /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -l | grep auth_digest mod_auth_digest.c I have also verified the necessary connection type using cPanel (that provides the setup for webdisk). These are the steps given: Manual connection instructions 1. From the desktop, click on Start and then Computer . 2. Then, click on Map Network Drive . 3. From that screen, click Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures , and then click Next. 4. Click Choose a custom network location , and then click Next. 5. Enter the following in the Internet or network address field: http://mydomain.org:2077 6. Enter your WebDisk username and password when prompted. 7. In the Type a name for this network location field, type a name that you will recognize. Click Next. 8. If you want to access the Web Disk right away, click the checkbox next to Open this network location when I click Finish. 9. Click Finish. Your Web Disk will open. The problem is when I try to connect by Adding a Network Location (especially when connecting to https://mydomain.org:2078 as prescribed for SSL connections), Microsoft requests that I select a Certificate. I have no idea why it would need a certificate and Microsoft doesn't provide me with the remote servers certificate. Nevertheless, I have downloaded the certificate for the connection and installed it as a trusted certificate. This makes no difference. Even when I select the certificate the connection cannot be made: "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please enter another" However, I can assure you that this does function correctly, as I have been able to successfully connect to it via other means (see original post). Any other ideas? Seriously, I have tried to change the registry for Basic Authentication, installed Digest Authentication, verified functionality with IE and other 3rd party software, verified that I can connect to an IIS WebDav, but I'm having no luck. Could it just be that MSFT has not correctly configured WebDav for connection to Apache over SSL?

The "howto Fix WebDAV on Windows 7 64 bit" article is not a Windows 7 bug fix. It's a server workaround that reduces security on the foreign server. Could someone at MS please fix this Windows 7 bug. It's been 1.5 years after this bug was identified, and it still goes unaddressed. How did this get fixed in Vista and the fix dropped in Windows 7? Here is the MS fix for Vista: KB907306 Could someone please tell us when you expect this bug to get fixed?
