Web Browsing Breaks - DNS Issue?
I did a clean install of Win 7 RC. When surfing the net with IE or Firefox or Chrome, I frequently get a page that says something like the Web Page Cannot Be Found. My networking connection seems to be stable. If I hit the refresh button on the browser, the page come right up. It's very annoying. Is anyone else having this problem? Is something I can do about it?

If you have this problem with all 3 browsers, I would say it is a DNS issue. Just having a network connection doesn't mean that DNS is working correctly. Can you describe your networking settings? Also, when this happens, what happens if you try to ping the site using a command prompt? You can also try (at a command prompt) to use the tracert command, followed by your web site name. This will show the routing of the packets. Please respond so we know how to help you proceed.Windows Client IT Pro Audience Manager for Web Forums, Windows Client Forum Owner

I have this problem too and it's driving me NUTS. This is the main reason why I keep using Windows XP over Windows 7. Under Windows XP, with exactly the same computer and the same router, I have NO problems at ALL. with Vista and Windows 7; I always have this problem. This is extremely annoying, so annoying that I have unninstalled and re-installed XP just for the browsing experience. Right now I am on W7 but JESUS, I hate this problem. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. PS: I've made several W7 RC clean Intalls, always the same.

If this is a DNS issue, as Anthony_Mann suggested, you could try using alternate DNS servers rather than the ones provided by your ISP. I have had DNS resolution issues in the past and have since used OpenDNS servers and things have been working smoothly since. -Nick
