We don't want Windows Live in the SP1 update
In our enterprise environment we do not want the Windows Live add-ons installed on our desktops. The new SP1 apparently installs Windows Live and I can't find how to prevent the deployment of the application. Any suggestions other than "don't install SP1"?

Are you referring to Windows Live Essentials? This is still a separate download. You will only find the link in the Start Menu to start the download. Live Essentials is not installed with SP1.Ray - Author of Windows 7 for XP Professionals

Nope ... it was installed with SP1. · I was just revising an image we have of our Windows 7 desktops and I needed to do close to 17 patches (image was created back in December 2010). There were 4 optional updates of which both Security Essentials and Windows Live were available. I did not check wither. After restarting, I then went back to Windows Update. SP1 was now available to download and Essentials and Live were still optional. I selected only SP1. After about twenty mins it completed and I restarted. I went back to Windows Update and did another check. No important updates and ONLY Essentials was available. That made me curious. I then right clicked on the web page and sure enough, options such as BLOG WITH WINDOWS LIVE; EMAIL WITH WINDOWS LIVE, etc. etc. etc., were there. So, I reimaged the machine thinking I must have missed an option or something because I was certain I didn’t select Windows live during the update process. So, I went through the process again and sure enough, Windows Live was not available after downloading SP1 and sure enough the right click functions for Windows Live were present.

You are referring to the Accelerators in IE. AFAIK they have always been there. In my installation SP1 did not touch the Accelerators in IE. The Live Essentials tools like messenger, Live Writer etc. are certainly not in stalled with SP1.Ray - Author of Windows 7 for XP Professionals

Thank you for your input. I went ahead and disabled accelerators in GP. Curious though, why did the optional Windows Live go away in the windows updates? No need to reply, just a thought.
