Wbadmin.exe on Windows 7 Pro x64
Hi, I cannot seem to get wbadmin.exe working from commandline. I want to use it for files and folders backup replacing ntbackup from earlier Windows versions. However, for example this little test: wbadmin start backup -include:C:\Users\me -backupTarget:G: Returns this: ----------------- wbadmin 1.0 - Backup command-line tool (C) Copyright 2004 Microsoft Corp. Retrieving volume information... A partial backup of volumes is not supported on this version of Windows. ----------------- http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc742083(WS.10).aspx says: For Windows°7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, specifies the comma-delimited list of items to include in the backup. You can include multiple files, folders, or volumes. Well, that does not seem to be quite true... Any ideas? Best regards

Hi, The behavior your are seeing is by design. Partial backup is a feature of the server version of the Windows OS. You may refer to the similar thread below. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/23a4b5b0-3770-4608-b8da-63fbf6051124/ Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi, Still, the documentation says "For Windows°7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, specifies the comma-delimited list of items to include in the backup. You can include multiple files, folders, or volumes. If it is in fact by design, someone should correct the TechNet library. Seems weird why MS would limit partial backups to server versions and not clients, but I guess we have to consider 3rd party software or just e.g. robocopy then as an alternative :-/ Thanks for the reply though.
