Watermark

Hello ,

After I installed Media Centre in windows 8 pro, I suddenly got a watermark "Windows 8 Pro with Media Center Build 9600". I don't know why its like that cause my windows is activated and I have no reason to get a watermark like that.

Open regedit, go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

and set the value PaintDesktopVersion to 0. Does this work?

Actually, once you installed Windows 8 with Media Center, you have a different "edition" of Windows.

Make sure your Windows is indeed activated first. There's no reason for a watermark unless your copy isn't activated.

You can check via System or type slmgr /xpr from an elevated command prompt.

I have the same problem after installing W8.1 pro with media center. I have a 3 line watermark -

"

Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center

SecureBoot isn't configured correctly

Build 9600

"

How can I get rid of all 3?

With Windows 8 it was all good. My W8.1 is correctly activated with my W8 key. Tried setting the value PaintDesktopVersion to 0, but was a no-go. Was already at 0.

"SecureBoot isn't configured correctly"

this is new to me. Looks like this is new in Windows 8.1. You should not use the (leaked) RTM until October when all users get the RTM.

The Windows 8.1 release date is October 17, 2013.  Until then, there is no official support for it.
