Warning message about low memory on C drive
Sometimes I don't turn my computer off overnight; I just turn off the monitor. This morning when I got up to use the PC, there was a a popup yellow warning box that I was running very low on memory on my C drive. The only other time I have seen this happen was when I left Firefox running. But this time no applications were on. I restarted and the memory on my C drive returned to normal; more than half of my 75GB drive unused. The only thing that was odd was that the icons on my desktop took a long time to change from their generic symbol to the normal design of the application they lead to. What kind of process could use up hard drive space but not appear in the Task Manager?1 person got this answerI do too

Stupendous apologies for the slow reply. This problem has been sporadic. Daavee, the last time I saw the box, all I was able to read was "You are running out of disk space on Local Disk (C: " before it disappeared. Anyway, following Palcouk's advice about TreeSize (VERY handy!), it turned out to be a runaway trace.log file. I used RegEdit to turn off the logging. Yes, I know, maybe it was recording something important, but I haven't had any problems in days since I took this action. Thanks all for your help.
