Want to Gray out Dial-up phone number in dial-up connection.
Client wants me to enter dialup number for internal modem and prevent other users from changing. Windows 7 laptop. He wants it grayed out so that non-administrative users can not enter a 2nd number to dial to. How can I gray it out, or is there another solution? bill westman

Hi Bill, You may try to configure the Group Policy to test this issue: Prevent Changing Internet Explorer’s Connection Settings ------------------------------------------------ 1.Type gpedit.msc in the Start menu’s search box and then press Enter. 2.Navigate to User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, and then select Internet Explorer in the left column of the Group Policy editor. 3.Double-click Disable changing connection settings in the Settings section of the Group Policy editor. 4.Select Enable and then click OK to save the changes. Or you may go to use the "Disable changing connection settings" option in the Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer. Reference: Disable the Connections page Regards, Sabrina TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. This seems to blank out dial-up options in IE, but not the section of the OS related to setting up a network connection by using dial-up. That remains unchanged. bill westman

Hi Bill, After research, I think this goal cannot be achieved by Windows 7 settings. You may try to use the scripts. In order to get the answer effectively, it is recommended to submit a new question in Scripting Forums. Regards, Sabrina TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. Hi Bill, We also cannot configure this in the Vista settings. You’re most welcome to ask Windows 7 related questions here. :) Regards, Sabrina TechNet Subscriber Support in forum.
