Waking from hibernation, Windows 7RC loses the wirless network.
Greetings, When I wake my laptop from hibernation, the wireless network doesn't work. I turn off the switch, wait a moment, and after a while (getting longer) the wireless starts working. Also just started today, after going into the Screen Saver mode and waking up, nothing works/happens for a while. Like it doesn't know what to do. (Freeze up, yes.) But just wait about one minute and things are back to normal. Can't remember, but I think I had the same problem with Vista SP1. I can't remember the fix. I has been over a year since that happened. Thanks for any help. W. Kirk Crawford Tularosa, New Mexico

This may help: Go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Network & Sharing Center > Change adapter settings (in the left pane), right-click on the connection youre using > Properties > Networking Tab. Now remove the tick from the IPv6 box. If it makes no difference or causes problems it is completely reversible by ticking the box. Also, click the Windows Orb (Start), type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. Expand Network Adapters > double-click the wireless adapter > Power Management Tab and make sure the check box is cleared against Allow the computer to turn off this device.

At the moment there is an issue with any mode changing power settings (sleep, hibernate, etc) on Windows 7 RC, so it is best to avoid such states until the issue is resolved.

Hi, By default Windows 7 enables Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power power management option under the Wireless adapter. All you have to do is remove the check and disable this option The following are the steps on how to do this In the Network and Sharing Center click on Change Adapter Settings link. Right click on the Wireless Adapter and select Properties, click on the Configure button which you will find just under your wireless device name. This will open up a new Window which will have five tabs of which the last one will be Power Management. Uncheck the option Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power and click Ok. Now you can hibernate, use the sleep mode or standby mode and your Wireless Network Card will work just fine upon resuming Windows.Akfashhttp://technetbrunei.net/blogs/akfashAkfash Latibu http://akfash.wordpress.com http://techdbt.blogspot.com http://techdisti.blogspot.com

Burr, This didn't work. So I turn it back on and wait for another try. Thanks. W. Kirk Crawford Tularosa, New Mexico

Again, hibernation and sleep are not working properly on this Release candidate. Best solution is avoiding the power state changes altogether until it is resolved.

Akfash, That, 'turn off computer to save power' didn't work either. Thanks. Someday they'll have it happen to them and then we will get a fix. Thanks for your help. W. Kirk Crawford Tularosa, New Mexico
