Wake-On-Lan doesn't work when connected to internet
Hello!I frequently need to wake up another PC in my home network. In Win XP this worked without problems but in Win 7 it does only work when I'm disconnected from the internet. I tried different WOL tools with always the same results.Anyone got any clues?I posted here an ipconfig log in case it can be of any use.Best regards!

Hi, Firstly, may I know how you disconnect the Internet? Based on my research, I would like to suggest trying the following: 1. Ensure that the NIC driver is for Windows 7 and it is up-to-date. 2. Ensure the BIOS is up-to-date. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT

Hello! Thanks for your reply!I'm connecting to the internet through a PPTP connection as you can see in the ipconfig log. I have to manually establish an internet connection which I do through the symbol in the right notification area.Disconnecting is the same procedure. The NIC driver should be correct. It's the one Windows 7 selected after a fresh install. I also didn't find newer ones. The BIOS is also the latest from my notebooks manufacturer. Before switching from XP to 7 wake-on-lan did work without any problems.Best regards

Hi, Just check this: When the Internet connection is established, can you ping other computers from this computer to another one or vice versa? Meanwhile, please also run CMD and then route print to export the route table and post the information to this thread. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

Hello!Pinging the other computer does work always when I'm disconnected from internet on my notebook. When I ping the hostname of the other computer (which is connected to the internet) it gets correctly resolved to an internal address (10.88.xx.xx) but when I ping the hostname and I'm also connected to the internet the hostname gets resolved to an external address (85.127.xx.xx) and returns a timeout. Here's the "route print" from my notebook (connected to internet): =========================================================================== Schnittstellenliste I just wanted to say that I could solve the problem with the help of Comodo's forums.I had to to change the interface metrics as described here:https://forums.comodo.com/beta-corner-cisv4/wakeonlan-working-t51912.0.html

Hello! I just wanted to ask if there are plans that this problem will be fixed in SP1? I have just reinstalled Windows and had the same problem again and didn't know what was wrong until I remembered the solution linked in the post above. Thanks and kind regards
