WSUS deployment of SP1. better warning next time please
Well now it's started. Sp1 has started it's rollout. Our WSUS admin simply had accepted every update from microsoft, and thus many computers got SP1 without the IT departments knowledge. I might ask for a special permission for larger update in WSUS! I know IT departments from two different companies also caught by surprise of this WSUS push. old story (before I knew Sp1 got sent to WSUS): Now some users complain that their computers are locked and they cannot work... I know I can block this in WSUS, but it seems to me that the deployment of SP1 is too large for normal workflow. I cannot hold it back forever, and users need to install this whilst their computers are ON. So it cannot be done after work hours... And most have laptops anyways. What is recommended here, and why cant this SP1 be faster to install. Our company now has 600 windows 7 clients (x64). We have not set any changes for SP1. Did anything change now. Is SP1 mandatory now? People claim they did nothing to start this install. Restarting the computer does not stop this install. The installation seems to start in background. And many users then reboots their computer because the computer is very laggy, only to discover that SP1 restarts install after boot-up and thus they cannot do anything with their computer. Also, Microsoft ForeFront security has been uninstalled by this update. This did not happen when running SP1 install manually by windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe
