WRT54G2 router and Windows Vista/7 connection issue
Here is my problem. It seems when the time comes for a lease renewel that my internet conectivity does not work, only local. I have to pull the power on my router and plug it back in. All seems fine until the next day when the lease is renewed and same thing. Now, I have updated my firmware and drivers, changed the address of the router and there is no IP address conflicts. I am noticing that there is a high majority of problems with the Lynksys wrt54g2 router and windows wista/7. When I connect directly to the Comcast Arris modem all is fine and dandy, it's only when the router is connected and it needs a lease renewel that the router seems to not work. I have also noticed that when this happens I can not find the router in the full networking map at all. When I reset it, then I can find the router again in the full map. I need some serious help as Comcast hasn't a clue either and the Lynksys forums are a no go. Any hard concrete advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

have you tried the DD mod on your linksys? its harder on the G2 series but it makes great inprovements to the wrt54 series linksys routers.

I haven't noticed support for the WRT64G2 model, I saw support for the WRT54G and WRT54GS model though so I am reluctant to try it.Let me know if you think it would really work with my model of router.

the G2 model does not have a straight forward ddwrt upgrade path but there is a document on their wiki about it. Also I didnt think of it before but with only a small number of devices attached to the router is static IP addressing an option? Dislaimer 1:As usual I could be way off so no playing like I'm Frankenstein. Disclaimer 2: my Speeling and proofing skills are teh fail
