WPA2-PSK under windows 7 random DCs
Using WPA2-PSK under windows 7 I get a severe amount of dropped connections over the wireless whenever I use it heavily. i.e. Streaming, downloads etc or streaming music from our media pc.Never had this issue with vista and 2 other Vista PCs don't get the issue whilst I am using 7. XP machine is also stable at same time as my issues.Linksys router: WRT45GBroadcom 802.11g Network Adaptor on a Acer Aspire 9300 laptop.Any fixes, workaround, known issues etc? Anyone else having similar issues? With standard browsing etc I don't see the problem, only more intensive use. Again, Vista machines running in the apartment have no issues and nor did mine before I installed the beta.

Should add, I just have to goto the network icon in the system tray, click refresh and it comes back instantly.

I have the same problem and thought it might be something wrong with my AT&T 2wire wireless router. Funny, I found the same quick fix as you by refreshing the icon near the clock that signals a connection. I may try changing the WPA from PSK and the amount of numbers and letters I used in the password for encryption. Unless someone can say theyhave a work around I will keep trying and post my results.

I'm havingproblems connecting at all into any of my Linksys WRT54G routers using WPA-PSK. And when I do manage to connect (Which is a rarity), the connection drops almost instantly or when any network streaming is attempted. However, I can connect with no issues into my Verizon FIOS Actiontec brand router using WPA-PSK. Note that connections to the WRT54G routers work fine in Vista.I'm pretty surethese routers are based on different hardware (Broadcom vs XScale), so perhaps that is playing a role in these disconnect issues. Windows 7 definately seems to favor the signal from the Actiontech router though, despite the signal strengths being plenty strong on the other routers.

Anyone else? So far I have found no way to stablise this and am having to assume its something to do with 7 as it works fine on the rest still.Anyone from MS throw some light on this?

Am running a Level 1 wireless card with AR5005GS (Atheros) chipset, don't remember the model number. This connects to a Netgear GT834GT (running DGTeam firmware). Using WPA2/PSK with no problems. Download large files, bittorrent and just browsing works fine for me with no disconnects. --bill

I have the same experience. Using an Apple Time Capsule in my case, but with Vista it was rock-solid.It doesn't seem to happen while I'm actively surfing, but rather if I leave the computer unattended for a bit. Could there be some energy-saving feature that's a bit overeager about shutting off power to the wireless card when not in use? (Just a wild guess.)

There's definitely something up with Win7 and the WRT54G. Quite frequently, anything wireless stops connecting and I have to 'reset' the router. Then everything works fine again. But it's random, sometime I have to reset a few times a day, sometimes 50 times a day. If I boot into XP, this problem does not exist, period.I found that if I open "Network" and double-click on the WRT54G, it stops working, and I have to reset the router. I can reproduce this 100% of the time.I use WPA.

Well I have now done the whole "device manager" "wireless network" "Power managment" thing and told it to never turn the device off. If I get past a whole day with no loss of connection I shall post back here. I'll also post if it doesn't work of course :)

Mine tends to turn off whilst I am doing things though, especialy if I am hitting the connection quite hard. Id blame that but its too easy an excuse as I can hit the connection as hard as I like on every other OS in the house and this laptop when using another OS. We shall see :)

Ok, near 9 hours down the line and I have tried in desperation to kick myself off the network since telling it to not powersave my adaptor.. No luck! This may actualy have fixed the issue I have/had.Bar keeping to try and flood my connection till it craps out again I can think of no other way so i'll keep it up for 24 hours. By now i'd have lost it at least 5 times so its looking good. All I can suggest is that everyone else with this issue does the same.Device manager, Find your network adaptor and double click it, Power managment tab and untick the "allow the pc to turn off this device" bit.See ya again in a few more hours with a hopefully, final update.

Fixed. Seems it was the power management options for the nvidia network controller not the actual router or mode of connection. Unless I have just been very unlucky and for some reason cannot now replicate the connection dropping, setting it as above fixes my issue so hopefully others too.

I had the same issue and the same solution worked. By sure to do this for your *wired* adapter as well.

OK, it must have been pure coincidence that it seemed to have fixed it for me.Playing OTTD and I get loss of wireless network every 5 minutes or more back to back. Same issue, you go to the available networks and it instantly finds it again. That actualy makes this beta totaly unusable for me now.Vista 64 pc next to me has zero issues at exactly the same time playing OTTD too on the same server online as this one used to be with Vista 64.Something massive wrong here and I now have no idea :( Need a fix or some clue? Bar that, still loving 7 but now.. unusable.

I have the same problem. My router is Asus WL-520 GU running WPA Personal, TKIP+AES.My system is Dell Latitude E5400, with Intel Wifi Link 5300 AGNIt seems to drop most often under heavy use. It doesn't matter if I am actively using it or not (it has dropped 2x in the last 10 mins while I've been surfing). For me, clicking on the refresh button doesn't seem to do it. I have to disconnect and reconnect to the network to get the connection back.I've tried setting the power managment settings to never allow windows to turn the device off to save power, but it hasn't fixed the problem. Any other tips would be appreciated!!!Thanks!
