WMF file previewer for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7
I noticed that Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 does not include support for previewing WMF files, probably because security enhancements. Is there a setting that needs to be done to enable it or does it came as a separate program from Microsoft or should we rely only to third party tools such as: http://code.google.com/p/emfplugin/ Thank you,

I can't say this, but both formats are very old. Use the 3rd party solution and you're fine."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Hi dragos, Explorer can show a preview for any image format if the necessary codec for the format is installed in the Windows Imaging Component. According to Windows Image Component Overview, there’s no built-in codec of WMF file. It’s neither included in Windows 7, refer to What’s New for WIC in Windows 7. You need the 3rd party tool for the preview. There is a small issue though with one user on the Server 2008 R2 who is not able to preview WMF files although all other users can. When I am trying to open a WMF file it says that it is not a valid bitmap file, or its format is not currently supported. How can this be possible ? It might be a program's issue but since it is working well for all other users I suspect that somehow the component did not installed for that particular user (regular user as the rest). Can you suggest me how to fix it if it has to do with Microsoft Image Component ?

Hi dragos, Only one user has this issue, I suspect this user profile got corrupted, try to fix the profile to check if it works, refer to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile Regards, MiyaThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
