WIndows Phone will not connect after Windows 7 joins a new domain
Last month I rebuilt my Small Business Server 2011. As part of that my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 computer had to be moved to the new domain. Since doing so, my Windows Phone v6.1 will no longer connect via the USB through Windows Mobile Device Center. My phone is a member of the domain and syncronizes directly with my Exchange server via Wi-Fi. That mechanism does not syncronize notes, one-note books, music, or data files. That is why I need to get the phone reconnect ot the Win 7 machine via the USB cable, as it was before I rebuilt the domain controller. When I connect or disconnect the phone from the USB cable, windows plays the appropriate sound file, but Windows Mobile Device Center doesn't respond at all. Again, it all worked prior to rebuilding the domin controller. - Michael Faklis

Hi Michael, Did you try to remove and reinstall the Windows Mobile Device Center to test this issue? Is your phone able to connect to the other computers via USB cable in your domain? Do the other USB devices work properly in this Windows 7 Ultimate x64? You may also try to temporarily disable the third party security programs and boot in Clean Boot to check this issue. Late last night I got it connected. I decided to bypass USB and connect via Bluetooth, and in the process came across a screen with a checkbox asking if I want to connect via the USB when the phone is placed in the cradle. I can now sync what I can from the Exchange server, Notes from Outlook (32-bit), and other stuff (files, music) from the file system. I don't know how the box got unchecked. I haven't done a hard-reset on my phone for many months. p.s., Sorry for the delay. I had to recover my server after it hung up.- Michael Faklis
