WIndows 7 :WGA reports copy is counterfeit??
I hope I'm missing something here: As of 2 days ago, Windows 7 is displaying a popup that indicates my windows 7 is may be counterfeit. It recommended downloading the WGA tool which reported that Windows 7 is unsupported by WGA. Now in the lower right hand corner of the screen, it shows: -------------------------------------- Windows 7 For testing purposes only. Build 7000 This copy is not genuine --------------------------------------- I'm sorry, but this is NOT GOOD.. Makes you look like a thief!! I can understand Windows 7 not being supported, but tagging it as NOT GENUINE!! is ridiculous.. Please advise..

How many other computers have you installed your copy of Win 7 on?As when you download and get your Key you're allowed to use it on up to 3 other computers. If you downloaded via a torrent then most likely WGA is reporting correctly as more then 3 computers would have used that Key to install.I would suggest going to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-download.aspx then select which version 32 Bit or 64 Bit Select your language and then select go. It will then ask you to sign in with your Live ID. Once you have signed in you will see:Windows 7 Beta 32-bit Product Key or Windows 7 Beta 64-bit Product Key with the key listed underneath. Copy that key to a safe place and then go to start menu, control panel, system. Down the bottom of the page you will see a link to change your CD key. Click the link then paste your product key in the box and click next and follow the online activation process.Hope this helps to correct your WGA problem. This was a copy I downloaded from MS Connect in Dec. and had an Product key for.. Interestingly, I found the "Change Product Key" and just aquired a new key from MS's beta site, and applied it to my Windows 7 install, and it validated and no more messages..although the message in the lower right hand corner still says:"This copy is not genuine"Not sure if there's a problem or not, but thought that it was interesting..Thanks for the ideas..

you may want to send feedback to MS through the send feedback link to advise them of what has transpired otherwise it may indicatea problem with the WGA servers and authenticating. This could turn a small problem into a rather a large nightmare if they're not informed!
